Dianne Chambless, Professor & Director of Clinical Training Program was selected as a 2017 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies. The ABCT awards program recognizes and salutes individuals for their contributions to the field of behavioral and cognitive therapy and the institutions that have helped to train many of these very people.

Members are elected to the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. 

Membership is a widely accepted mark of excellence in science and is considered one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive.

Barbara Mellers and Philip Tetlock have been awarded the 2017 Thomas C. Schelling Award by Harvard University's Kennedy School. 

The award recognizes individuals whose "remarkable intellectual work has had a transformative impact on public policy." 

Caitlin Clements has been awarded a US Fulbright student grant to conduct research in Sweden. She will work with Dr. Mikael Landen at the Karolinska Institute to study genetic predictors of treatment response in individuals with depression. 

The Thomas A. Wadden Award for Distinguished Mentorship honors a mid-career or senior TOS member for distinguished mentorship of the Society's members who were in their early careers at the time of the mentoring relationship. The award is named for Professor Thomas Wadden, PhD, of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, who for more than 30 years has mentored dozens of scientist-practitioners who have pursued successful careers in obesity research and clinical care.

Lorenzo Lorenzo-Luaces will receive the Aaron T. Beck Student Achievement Award from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy at the ABCT meeting this month in New York (Saturday, 10/27/16 at 7:00 PM). This award acknowledges excellence and accomplishments of graduate students, post doctoral fellows, and residents who are pursuing careers in the field  of mental health and who are intent on using cognitive behavioral therapy as a guiding modality in either their delivery of client services or in their research.

Lila Gleitman is the 2017 recipient of the Rumelhart Prize.  This is the top prize in Cognitive Science, and includes $100,000 tary award. For more information,  please visit http://rumelhartprize.org/

Elizabeth Brannon has been appointed to the Edmund J. and Louise W. Kahn Term Chair in the Natural Sciences, in recognition both of her distinguished scholarship and of her outstanding service to the Department of Psychology and the School of Arts and Sciences.

This chair was established through the bequest of Edmund and Louise Kahn. Mr. Kahn was a 1925 Wharton graduate who had a highly successful career in the oil and natural gas
