Course Description: 

Why are certain clinical syndromes, such as depression and anxiety, overrepresented among women, while others, such as aggression and substance abuse, are more common among men? This seminar explores gender differences and similarities in emotional socialization and expression, vulnerability to mental illness, and help-seeking behavior. Several forms of psychopathology will be considered, including major depression, eating disorders, traumatic stress, conduct disorder, substance use disorders, and personality disorders.
