This course will examine selected topics in the field of Neuroendocrinology. Students will discuss recent experiments and new hypotheses in the field. Students will master an emerging topic by writing a short review and presenting it to the class. Each week will focus on a single topic with approximately three papers for the students to read and discuss. Students will be expected to lead the discussion of at least one paper, and participate in the discussion of the other papers. The course will begin with an overview of neuroendocrine systems and the neuroanatomical basis of neuroendocrine systems. We then will focus on several specific neuroendocrine systems, namely, reproduction, metabolism, fluid balance, and stress.
